Konrad Fischer
Konrad Fischer (pseudonym: Konrad Lueg; 11 April 1939, Düsseldorf - 24 November 1996, Düsseldorf) was a German painter and gallery owner.
Konrad Fischer opened his exhibition space on 21 October 1967 with the first European solo presentation of Carl Andre. Located in a converted alley in the Neubrückstrasse in Düsseldorf, it offered a platform for emerging, international artists under the name Ausstellungen bei Konrad Fischer. In the following years, Fischer would show among others Hanne Darboven, Sol LeWitt, Bruce Nauman, Richard Long, Robert Smithson, Lawrence Weiner, Gerhard Richter and Mario Merz. Through his exhibition programme, Fischer enabled contact between European and US artists and transformed Düsseldorf into an international meeting place. [1]
