Carlos Barreneche

Carlos holds a BA in Philosophy & Literature, and a BA in Psychology, both from Colombian Universities. He completed his MA in Communication at the University of Westminster with a dissertation entitled Maps as Media: Georeferencing the News. Currently Carlos is recipient of a CAMRI Research Scholarship. His academic curiosity centers on how communicative practices of the Web are shaped by technocultural processes and power relations. His current doctoral research in CAMRI involves examining the articulations of geo-referenced media within informational, cultural and commercial dynamics. Other interests include media theory, philosophy of technology, political economy of digital media, information politics, etc.
