Beatrice von Bismarck (Leipzig/Berlin) teaches Art History, Visual Culture and Cultures of the Curatorial at the Academy of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst) in Leipzig. Main curator of 20th century art at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt from 1989 to 1993, she has then co-founded and directed the project-space “Kunstraum der Universität Lüneburg”, associated with Lüneburg University (1993-1999). She is also co-founder of the project-space “/D/O/C/K-Projektbereich” (2000) and initiator of the MA program “Cultures of the Curatorial” (2009). Her current research interests are the curatorial, the modes of cultural production connecting theory and practice, the effects of neoliberalism and globalisation on the cultural field, and postmodern concepts of the “artist”.
