Yukie Kamiya
Yukie Kamiya is the director of New York’s Japan Society Gallery. She was Chief Curator at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art 2007-2015. Previously she was Associate Curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York.
She has curated internationally, including monographic exhibitions by Do Ho Suh, Simon Starling, Ozawa Tsuyoshi, and Cai Guo Qiang at the Hiroshima MoCA, co-curated Thermocline of Art: New Asian Waves at ZKM Karlsruhe in 2007, Re:Quest Japanese Contemporary Art Since the 1970s at the Museum of Art, Seoul National University in 2013, among other exhibitions.
She has contributed articles to periodicals and newspapers, and is co-author of Creamier: Contemporary Art in Culture (Phaidon, 2010). She served on the Jury of Japan Media Arts Festival, and is a visiting lecturer at Waseda University, Tokyo.
