Rikhardur H. Fridriksson
Composer and computer musician. Began his career as a rock musician, but later studied composition at the Reykjavík College of Music, Manhattan School of Music in New York, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and the Royal Dutch Conservatory in The Hague. He studied computer music at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, as well as attending courses on computer composition at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and the summer courses in Darmstadt. Fridriksson's instrumental and electro-acoustic compositions have been performed and broadcast in various countries. He has received the DV cultural prize for organizing the ART2000 computer music festival in Iceland, and a working grant from the Icelandic government in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004. Apart from a period teaching computer music at Aalborg University in Denmark, he has lived in Reykjavik, dividing his time between composing electronic music and teaching electronic music and music history. He is co-director of the Kopavogur Computer Music Centre, besides being caught teaching Computer Music and Music History at Iceland Academy of the Arts and the Reykjavik College of Music. Member of electronic groups Icelandic Sound Company and Hexrec. Lives in Reykjavík.
