Ooo
The collective ooo was founded in the spring of 2020 as a dedicated space for the exploration of the world through sound art, contemporary music and intermedia art. It is a collaborative effort of musician, teacher and intermedia artist Fero Király and dramaturg, cultural manager and artist Eva Vozárová. Our curatorial and artistic approach stems from our hope for all living entities on this planet, even though we live in a time of the sixth largest extinction of species. Our endeavors revolve around projects that delve into the intricate relationships between humans and non-humans, encompassing the fields of acoustic ecology, deep listening, environmental and social issues, as well as disciplines such as anthropology, philosophy, mathematics, and other realms of knowledge. We hold a preference for considerate and subtle artistic interventions.
The name ooo was originally intended to be read as “ó” (Slovak long “oh”), but we enjoy any other possible interpretation that may come up. The name arose from our preoccupation with sound, but, equally, it is an interjection expressing the ever-important sense of joy and wonder. At the same time, ooo is a triple zero, an absence, a visual expression of a rounded or negative space – that is, a pit (Slovak word for JAMA) from which our activities emerged. (2023)
