Morten Torgersrud (1971) is a photographer basing his work on the landscapes around Kirkenes. He is interested in how the materiality of the surroundings is depicted and transferred through photographic technology. Often there is something structural about Torgersrud’s approach to the relationship between place and photography, whether inside or outside the gallery. The works may contain references to the local photographic history or more reductive approaches to the specific physical landscape. In this manner they operate at different scale levels and with different degrees of resolution. (2019)
