Born 1979. A postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Media and Communication at the University of Oslo. She is the author of a monograph on the theory of photographic self-portraits, Der Autoporträtistische Pakt (Fink, 2008), and has published several articles on photographic self-portraits and the impact of the digital post-production and screening of the photographic image's relation to temporality. Together with writer Rémi Marie, Hölzl currently works on developing the concept of "the photographic-now" as a general framework for understanding the temporalities of digital images and their media channel, the digital display.
