Born 1932 in Bucharest. Composer. A pupil of Andricu at the Bucharest Conservatory (1951-6), where he began teaching in 1962, he also studied at Darmstadt (1966-9). His music, in several genres, uses avant-garde techniques; one of his aims is to create a complex work uniting visual and musical forms with technological resources (e.g. in the cycle of eight orchestral pieces Dèmarche musicale, 1971).
