Apichaya (Piya) Wanthiang (1987, Bangkok) graduated with a BA from Sint-Lukas, Brussels, in 2009 and received her MFA from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Bergen. Her practice consists mostly of painting, video, immersive installation and text dealing with slow time and the construction of (fictionalized) places. Her interest lies within the small and the anecdotal, with the aim of constructing a shared space. Previous exhibitions include From X into Minuses, Martin Van Blerk Galery, Antwerp (2009); Geography of A, Hordaland kunstsenter, Bergen (2012); without waiting for her reply, Visningsrommet USF, Bergen (2014); Roaming, UKS, Oslo (2016); All Digressions Aside, Barents Spektakel, Kirkenes and Nikel (2016); While the light eats Away at the Colors, Stiftelsen 3,14 (2017); Driftwood and Ghost Hunters, LNM, Oslo (2018); Evil Spirits Only Travels in Straight Lines, UKS, Oslo (2018); and Burn, Rage, Rise Heimdal Kunstforenening, Heimdal (2019).
